The Fiberglass Flagpole-Residential External Halyard

Our fiberglass flagpoles are extremely durable, yet lightweight and easy to install. They are resistant to sun, moisture and corrosion and will not conduct electricity like aluminum or steel. Fiberglass flagpoles come in a brilliant white Gel-Coat finish to ensure a lasting, fade-free, weather resistant quality.

The residential fiberglass flagpoles come in a complete package with a gold ball top ornament, an external halyard cleat, ropes and nylon swivel snaps (to protect the pole’s finish and make for a quiet pole), a revolving truck to ensure that your flag will not tangle around the pole and an in-ground sleeve and installation instructions. As an option, these poles can be equipped with a tilt down hinge base, an internal halyard with a winch and/or an optional flash collar.

Tilting Hinge Base
Add a tilting hinge base for that time when something goes wrong at the top, or you decide to add an eagle instead of the standard gold ball. You don’t have to climb it and you don’t have to convince the neighbor kid to go up there either. Release the bolts and tilt the pole easily to the ground. It is on a hinge and very light. Clever!

Internal Halyard
The internal halyard option changes the rope halyard system completely. In this option, the rope is housed on the inside of the pole. Raise and lower the flag with a small handle that connects to the winch on the inside of the pole. Without the winch handle, the flags can’t be removed. Now you don’t have to worry about “unauthorized” flag removals. Having an internal halyard also means less noise from the ropes contacting the outside of the pole. The look of the internal system is also very clean as no ropes are visible below the flags. Clean and neat!

Residential Outrigger Flagpoles

The Fiberglass Outrigger Deluxe Set features a strong and flexible 6’ long by 1” diameter fiberglass pole. The fittings on this high quality pole set include, a brass plated metal acorn ornament top, the “Never Furl” system to keep your flag from tangling, a solid brass mounting bracket and even has solid brass mounting screws and our highest quality 3’x5’ Nylon U.S. outdoor flag. The “Never Furl” system is important because your flag will float up over the pole at some point and when it does the “Never Furl” system will allow the flag to spin on the pole and then free itself.

Residential 20’ Aluminum Sectional Flagpole

Our most affordable ground set flagpole, the 20’ Aluminum Sectional is the most popular residential pole we sell. Five sections of 16 gauge anodized seamless aluminum tubing, swage together easily to form a smooth finish.

The 20’ Aluminum Sectional flagpole comes in two versions and includes our highest quality Solar Max nylon U.S. flag with sewn stripes and fully embroidered stars. The Basic set includes a 3’x5’ sewn nylon U.S. flag with a gold ball sitting atop a cast aluminum truck. The Deluxe set includes a 4’x6’ sewn nylon U.S. flag with a solid cast aluminum gold eagle top ornament which gives this flagpole added distinction. The halyard (rope) threads through the sheave (pulley wheel) in the truck and holds your flags with the help of nylon flag snaps. These are a good choice because they don’t “clink” on the pole, making extra noise and marking the pole. Let us know if you will be flying more than one flag because you will need more flag snaps.

Installation for this pole is covered in simple to follow instructions that we include for your reference. You will be digging a small hole for the foundation and cementing a PVC ground sleeve into place. Once the concrete is dry, you can assemble and rig the pole. It is lightweight and easy to stand up. Slide it into the ground sleeve and you are ready to raise the flag.

If you would like to leave your flag flying day and night, remember that flag protocol suggests that the flag be lighted. The level of light has to be such that you can see color at night. Our new Solar Powered flag light works well for this.

The finish is the same as a boat hull, with a white gel coat that will look brand new for a long time. Commercial Aluminum Flagpoles

Our Commercial Aluminum flagpoles are a traditional choice and we have the best available.

We work with one of the oldest manufacturers in the business, (they started with ship masts and wood flagpoles). We service poles from all manufacturers and what we see in the field, guides us in who we represent. You will appreciate the companies we deal with because of their consistent attention to quality.

The experience will begin with how your pole arrives on site. Encased in a hard cardboard protective sleeve, your pole will arrive in one piece, not two (that results in a seam line half way up the pole). The finish will be consistent, clean, and neat with no irregularities, scratches or imperfections.

Once onsite, your contractor will review the instructions for installing the foundation sleeve. Our directions are superior to any others we have seen. They are written by people with years of experience installing poles, and that’s a very big difference.

Once the foundation is set, your contractor will begin the rigging. This involves installing the truck at the top of the pole and attaching the halyard. Our internal halyard poles come with a lead line already in place. They have only to attach the lead to the rope to pull it easily down the internal length of the pole. This eliminates the head scratching dilemma of, “How are we going to thread the rope down the inside of the pole?” The internal halyard poles also come with a flush mounted access door, that has with no external hinges.

For the big finish, your pole will be standing, and the instructions will say, “insert wedges to plumb pole”. At Sunward Flag, we have a, “wedges and just about everything else you need is included”, so your contractor will find the needed wedges in the box with the parts. It’s a simple thing but is an example of taking care of the details that will make the pole installation go perfectly. Our Fiberglass poles are a perfect choice for a wide range of installations.  By increasing the base diameter, wall thickness, and overall robustness of your flagpole, we can place a fiberglass pole into just about any commercial installation.

They will pass the most rigorous city inspection, and we can provide engineering for all of our commercial poles. This is critical here in California. The requirements of just about every city and county in the state are much more rigorous than in the past. The pole must now have engineering that is signed and wet stamped by a California engineer. An out-of-state engineer just won’t work.  Fortunately, we have an engineer that can provide all calculations needed, wet stamped and signed.  That’s one more thing off your “must have” list. 

“Made in America” means that our Fiberglass poles exceed the requirements for commercial flagpoles.  The base diameter of the pole is 50% wider than our closest competitors.  Thicker walls and a pole weight of 3 to 4 times the usual fiberglass pole, ensures that this pole will not wave back and forth in the wind.   Our U.S. manufactured poles meet all of the city codes for flagpoles, and we can provide wet-stamped engineering drawings if required for your installation.

The Fiberglass poles are available in both external and internal (cam cleat system or winch) halyard and can be installed with a ground sleeve or optional Shoe or Tilt Base.
